At home

I can't believe Dennis is finally home. It all seems so surreal. He arrived home this evening and has already had a visit from the nurse. He will be starting all of his in-home rehab programs tomorrow. I guess no break from therapy.

My mom's anxiety level has really gone up today and she is feeling pretty stressed being his sole caregiver at home. She feels extremely responsible for any failures Dennis may have in the days to come. She is also trying to remember all of the things they have trained her to do at home from diet to medications to injections to utilizing and setting up his breathing and ambulation equipment. Please pray for her as she develops a routine and gains confidence in her ability to take care of Dennis.

Dennis is also out of sorts. He has become accustomed to hospital life and although he's been begging to come home, now that he is, he is finding challenges in his living environment. From his couch seat being to low for him to get up and his bathroom being too small to move around in with his walker, he is having to learn to re-adjust what he has learned to do in the hospital. Please pray for Dennis as he learns a new way of living.

Dennis can be called at home but he does not currently have access to his cell phone or computer. I have put these away in safe keeping.

As for the blog ... yes, I will keep the blog updated with his progress. I anticipate it will be a very long journey of recovery.

Congratulations Dennis - you are home!! Thanks Eunice for keeping the blog up to date. We will pray for Dennis, his mom and the physical and mental and emotional challenges that both are facing in this transition. I hope Dennis can see and dwell on how fortunate he is to have moved on to the next phase of his recovery. I know of many who spend their recovery in endless days in a nursing home. May God continue to bless you all with every good gift. jeff n

my thoughts continue to be with you- all of you- as you move through this incredible journey... it seems as though there's just so much to do, plan, adjust to.. but know you have all already accomplished so much! I'm so in awe of you (Eunice, Dennis and your mom) and the progress you've made, Dennis... So much to be proud of- and we're all thankful for that. I wish you continued patience, strength and the ability to see beauty in the little things, little moments, little wins- all in the midst of your tremendous journey.
Greetings from Vancouver,
nicole

Heh Dennis, We hope things are going as well as can be expected. This must be a challenging transition time. We are excited that things are going as well as they are! The world is full of battles and we all want to be more than conquerors!! and we can be!! We each have victories that we long for but the good attitudes we hold onto can be a far more valuable victories. How we treat one another and the love and joy we create as we go is where the real victories are!!! May God continue to bless you in all good things!!! JEff N

Heh Dennis, I hope you are comfortable and warm and dry! It is cold and wet outside. Your apartment is hopefully a cozy and warm place to be! I will be out of town for a week. I hope things are going well and you are able to creatively develop new ways of adjusting to apartment life again. We are praying for you and your mom. Hang in there! We look foward to continued gains in your recovery!! May God continue to richly bless you in all good things!!!
